Celebrating and empowering women in luxury travel…

At Elegant Resorts, we’re privileged to work with prestigious partners around the world. On International Women’s Day 2019, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate some of the inspiring females that we work alongside in the luxury travel industry, and their achievements.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day and I reflect on my career in travel, it is heartening to note the positive changes that have occurred in relation to equality of opportunities.  Whilst our work is not done as an industry, there are now more females in senior positions and I am proud to work for an organisation where equality, diversity and inclusion is in our DNA.  We are proud to now have three female Captains in our fleet and 20% of our Officers on board are female. Our President & CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo is committed to driving equality and I look forward to the day when we achieve eqaulity in every boardroom!  Happy International Women’s day.”

Jo Rzymowska – Vice President & Managing Director, UK & Ireland and Asia, Celebrity Cruises

“After being born on a small island called Kythira and growing up in Athens, to become the first female Executive Chef to join the Nobu group is a real privilege. Working for Nobu is like working with my family – everyday, I cook with my heart first and then with my hands. A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way – regardless of gender – and I strongly believe nothing is impossible, everything is possible.’’

Eleni Manousou – Executive Chef, Nobu Marbella

“Many things make me love my job; an amazing location and wonderful resort, a passionate team, fantastic guests and the ability to create out-of-the-ordinary experiences. As a woman, I am proud to have introduced many new initiatives to our resort, which have seen us paint the wall of a local pre-school, help build a mosque on a local island where labour was needed and teach children how to swim and snorkel. A lucky set of circumstances has led me to a wonderful career and extraordinary experiences I am incredibly grateful for, and I hope I can inspire future generations to strive for what they dream of.”

Marteyne Van Well – General Manager, Six Senses Laamu

“I’m incredibly proud and fortunate to work in a forward-thinking company. I remember walking through the door on my first day and was impressed to see that the majority of my immediate leadership team were female – I’m now part of that team, and the same is true today.  Most recently, empowering our cabin crew to decide for themselves if they would like to wear makeup or not is demonstrative of the emphasis we place on the individual not traditional gender expectations.  We’re excited to continue our innovative way of working into 2019 and beyond.”

Sara Andell – Head of Consumer Sales, UK and Ireland, Virgin Atlantic

“What I really love about my job is the variety and complexity of challenges we receive from a wide spectrum of our guests , collaborators and colleagues. Different cultures, languages systems and every day ways of living all blend together harmonically providing great opportunities for us. Every guest is unique at Elounda Gulf Villas, representing a new challenge which makes us motivated and ready to face it with the best result ever. With love to all of you – Happy International Women’s Day”
